Awards
Over the last 25 years we have worked hard to excel in everything that we do, whether helping out in the community or working on a large project. Listed below are some of the awards we have received, a true credit to our team and the people who work for and with us.
Our awards come in all shapes and sizes, and sometimes from the most unexpected places. This was written on a donut box as part of a thank you for shoveling roofs at the Ashford School during the record snowfall in February 2011.
We were extremely honored to receive Masonry Construction's 2010 Project of the Year Award for The Crescent Dorms at Quinnipiac University. This was a 515,000 square-foot, 1200-bed dormitory complex also representing the largest masonry subcontract ever awarded in Connecticut.
In December 2010 both Bruce and Kerry Dexter were recognized by the Northeastern Connecticut Council of Governments for their contributions to the region. We are very grateful for this honor along with the opportunity to help others and the community at large.
Bruce W. Dexter II, President of B.W. Dexter II, Inc. was awarded the Northeastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce's Business Leader of the Year Award. This award was given for both business and community leadership.
In 2010 B.W. Dexter II, Inc. was recognized by the Connecticut Construction Industries Association for excellence in Construction Safety and Health. We were extremely honored to receive this due to the care and efforts we take to ensure employee health.
In 2009, B.W. Dexter II, Inc. was recognized for its business efforts in the Greater Hartford area as the premier masonry contractor.
In 2009 B.W. Dexter II, Inc. won Masonry Construction's award for best fireplace. This was for the fireplace constructed at the Pomfret School Events Center, complete with 9-inch-thick bluestone chimney caps.
We were pleased to receive the International Masonry Institute's 2008 New England Golden Trowel Award for the work we did on Foxwoods Casino at the MGM Grand in Ledyard, CT. This award was given in the category of Special Project - Stone Masonry.
We were pleased to receive the International Masonry Institute's 2008 New England Golden Trowel Award for the work we did on the John S. Martinez Elementary School in New Haven, CT. This award was given in the category of Best Contemporary Design Project - Brick.
In 2007, the Associated General Contractors of Connecticut, Inc. recognized Bruce W. Dexter, II for his leadership in serving as a board member for both 2000 and 2006.
In 2005 B.W. Dexter II, Inc. was ranked 8th in the nation under the Specialty Contractors - Masonry by the Engineering News-Record.
In 2003 B.W. Dexter II, Inc. received First Place in the International Award of Excellence in Education and Government Design and Construction. This award was given for work done on the Robert C. Vance Building on the CCSU campus.
In 2002 we were pleased to find out that B.W. Dexter II, Inc. was recognized by the Connecticut Association of Builders & Contractors, Inc. for their work as a team member in helping build CREC.
In 2002 we were pleased to find out that B.W. Dexter II, Inc. was recognized by the Connecticut Association of Builders & Contractors, Inc. for their work as a team member in helping build the UCONN Hilltop Dormitories.
Bruce received this award in 2000 at the alumni recognition dinner for his work in masonry as a Harvard H. Ellis alumni.
In 2000, Bruce W. Dexter II was awarded for Outstanding Leadership by the Mason Contractors Association of Connecticut for the 1998 - 1999 season.
In 2000 B.W. Dexter II, Inc. was ranked 14th in the nation under the Specialty Contractors - Masonry by the Engineering News-Record.
In 1992, B.W. Dexter II, Inc. was selected to be an honored member of Who's Who in Connecticut.
