Safety Committee MeetingsThe following is a list of 2005 Safety Committee members and the proposed meeting dates: Ed Hawthorne, Safety Director
Your concern for a safer employee and a safer working environment is reflected in your response to be a part of the Dexter Safety Committee. Your involvement will require a commitment on your part to attend all scheduled meetings, to share your professional knowledge and experience, to provide input and to support committee recommendations and company policies. All scheduled meetings will be held on Monday's at 5:30 p.m. in the conference room at the B.W. Dexter II, Inc.'s Danielson office, with the exception of the December meeting which is yet to be determined. Committee members will receive straight time pay for meeting attendance. 2004 Safety Incentive AwardThe Annual 2004 Safety Incentive Award drawing was held on January 31, 2005 at the Danielson shop. Mr. Norman Brothers, Business Manager/Secretary/Treasurer Laborers Union Local #547 drew the lucky winner. 49 employees qualified for the Annual Award drawing. Congratulations to Rich Tiffany the winner of the 2005 Ford F-150 pick-up truck. The Safety Incentive Program was installed to not only recognize employees who consistently comply with and adhere to company safety rules and requirements but also to encourage team work and job attendance. The positive safety attitude and behavior is reflective of the employees’ concern for a safer work environment as well as there own safety and that of their fellow employees. The Safety Incentive Program continues for 2005. The Monthly Awards will vary, Quarterly Awards have been eliminated and the Annual Award is to be determined. Suggestions for the Annual Award should be made to Ed Hawthorne or me. Job Safety Recognition Lunches are still in place and we sincerely hope all jobs qualify for this monthly award. Qualifications for the awards are the same as 2004:
Even though our man hours for the company increased by 27.2% from 2003 to 2004 our Accident Incident Rate decreased by 16.4% and our Lost Work Day Incident Rate decreased by 50% for the same period. Also our Experience Modification Rating (EMR) has decreased from .75 to .69 which is 31% better than the national average for mason contractors. I would like to thank each employee for their hard work and concern for a safer and healthier job site as well as their own safety. |
